Abstract

SUMMARY

The rare clinical case of the combined postraumatik strabismus, paralysis of the upper oblique and inferior
rectus muscle after a head injury sustained in 1993 in the battles of the Karabakh war is described. In two years
after the trauma the patient had complaints of double vision and vertical strabismus, which he compensated for by
the forced position of the head.
In May 2019 the patient underwent the combined surgical intervention: at the same time- recession of the
superior rectus muscle, resection of the inferior rectus muscle, also separation of the inferior oblique muscle from
the attachment site and suturing to the attachment site of the inferior rectus muscle.
Follow-up period was 7 months. Restoration of the normal position of eyes, elimination of the head were
noted.
The described case confirms the efficiency of the combined surgery performed simultaneously on three
muscles which make it possible to obtain positive clinical - functional and cosmetic results and enhances the
quality of life of the patient.
