Abstract

SUMMARY

Aim - the study compared the frequency of development of oculogastral reflex (OGR) in vitreoretinal operations
using various methods of anesthesia.

Material and methods
The study included 271 patient aged 21 to 58 years. Depending on the method of anesthesia patients were
divided into 3 groups: I group = general anesthesia, II group - general anesthesia and subtenon anesthesia, III group
- combination of general anesthesia, subtenon anesthesia and application anesthesia.

Results
In the group I the incidence of developmental OGR was 30,2%. In the 2nd group the incidence of OGR
decreased to 24,7 %. In patients of the 3rd group the incidence of OGR was 11,8 %, much lower than in the 1st
and II groups.

Conclusion
Thus, the use of anesthesia technique based on a combination of general anesthesia, subtenon anesthesia and
application anesthesia reduced the frequency of oculogastral reflex development during vitreoretinal operations.
