Abstract

SUMMARY

Glaucoma is one of the most serious complications of uveitis in Behcet’s disease. In addition to uveal development
of neovascular glaucoma associated with retinovasculitis and, as a result, retinal ischemia is also possible. The
frequency of secondary glaucoma in Behcet’s disease according to different authors is 10,4% -10,9%.
This article describes a clinical case of a patient with uveitis associated with Behcet's disease, complicated by
neovascular glaucoma in the single Seeing Eye. The patient's visual acuity was a movement of the hand in the face;
intraocular pressure under hypotensive drops of 40 mm Hg. In connection with the refractoriness of glaucoma, the
patient underwent an operation to implant the glaucomatous drainage apparatus Ahmed Glaucoma Valve. Before
and after the operation, per os corticosteroids were administered to the patient at a dosage of 1 mg/kg/day. The next
step was to conduct cataract phacoemulsification.
The total visual acuity on the left eye of the patient was 0.02 eccentric; intraocular pressure on the operated eye
was 19 mm Hg.

Conclusion
Ahmed valve implantation is a successful solution for the treatment and control of secondary uveal glaucoma
in Behcet's disease.
