SUMMARY

Aim - to investigate the effciacy of laser speckles in the treatment of concomitant strabismus.

Material and methods
40 children with different types of concomitant strabismus at the age 6-17 years (average age of 9.8 years) were examined at the department of childrens’ and teen-agers vision protection of the National Centre of Ophthalmology named after acad. Zarifa Aliyeva. The treatment method implies the use of the Forbis (Russia) (device with polaroid separation of visual felds and low-energy helium-neon laser speckle patterns (green and red, 0.53 pm and 0.65 pm correspondingly). Binocular vision recovery was performed in the conditions of alternating exertion and relaxation of accommodation obtained through plus and minus spherical lenses.

Conclusions
The method ensures an increase in the number of individuals capable of stereopsis in 51.2% cases (conventional treatment) as well as widening of the range of tolerated plus/minus spherical lenses, in which the binocular fusion is retained at the same degree of convergence.
