SUMMARY

Aim – the frequency of congenital ocular diseases, clinic-epidemiologic and medical social peculiarities among the young men at theage of 18-35 years.

Material and methods
Investigations were conducted on the base of data of the National Centreof Ophthalmology named after acad. Z. Aliyeva. we defned the acuity of vision examination of anterior and posterior segments of eye and also the family history analysis to all young people. indystrophies of retina and atrophy of optic nerve we performed the additional examinations at ERG, multi ERG, VEP. There were revealedcauses of blindness and poor vision, the clinical-epidemiological analysis of diseases was made.

Results
6250 men were examined. Among them 295 (4,7%) young people at the age of 16 to 35 years were with congenital pathology of eye and appendage apparatus. The study of the different congenital pathologies in young people indicated that the causes of blindness and poor vision were the congenital anomalies of eyes (with a frequency of 0.6%), dystrophy of retina(1,56%), lens pathology (congenital cataracts or conditions after cataract surgery and lens subluxations (0,9%), congenital optic nerve pathology and including optic nerve atrophy (0,2%), congenital glaucoma (0,04%), corneal dystrophies (0,14%), albinism of the eye and skin (0,01%). Among the incidence of congenital eye diseases in large of the part were revealed various clinical forms of retinal dystrophy, in which 68% of cases among parents identifed related marriages. The lowest cause of decreased vision was accounted for by the pathology of the adnexa (0,54%).

Conclusion
Our research showed that in the majority of cases, congenital eye pathologies played an important role in the development of blindness, low vision and thus disability. The study of the incidence of congenital pathology as a factor that causes blindness and low vision in adolescents and young adults and the evaluation of medical - social weight are the basis for the development of comprehensive programs for the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of people with disabilities with this pathology.
