Abstract

SUMMARY

Purpose. To present the anatomical and functional changes after intravitreal bevacizumab (Avastin) and laser
photocoagulation in diabetic macular edema.

Materials and methods
The study included 10 eyes with clinically significant of macular edema. We compared
the examination findings of patients with CSME before and after intravitreal bevacizumab and focal laser
photocoagulation theraphy at 6 month.

Results
Patients received a mean 1.3 bevacizumab injection and focal laser photocoagulation. the best corrected
visual acuity increased from ±0,42 to ±0,59 at 6 month. The CMT decreased from baseline 369±55mkm to 290±34
mkm at 6 month.

Conclusion
Intravitreal theraphy using bevacizumab and focal laser photocoagulation appears to be an effective
primary theraphy.
