SUMMARY

The review is dedicated to the analysis of literature on microincision vitrectomy for the management of diabetic
retinopathy complications. The epidemiology and pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy, evolution of surgical
indications in microincision vitrectomy era, novel techniques and pharmacological adjuncts for vitrectomy in
diabetic retinopathy complications, intraoperative and postoperative complications are discussed separately.
