SUMMARY
Observation was performed on 24 eyes of 24 patients with high degree ametropia. The mean preoperative spherical
equivalent was in myops 8,00-22,00 diopters (average 15,00 ± 7), in hypermetrops 3,75-7,75 diopters (average 5,75 ±
2), refractive cylinder 2-2.50 diopters (2.25±0.25). Uncorrected visual acuity VAwas CD on 14 eyes (58,3 %), 20/400
on 6 eyes (25 %), 20/300 on 3 eyes (16.7 %). Patiens have been under observation for 6 months. During 6 months after
operation VAwas 20/50 on 3 eyes (12.5 %), 20/40 on 3 eyes (12.5 %), 20/35 on 9 eyes (37.5), 20/30 on 7 eyes (29.2 %),
20/25 on 2 eyes (8.3 %). Postoperative spherical equivalent was in myops 1.50 - 2.50 D (2.00±0.50), in hypermetrops
75 -1.00D (0.875 ± 0.125), refractive cylinder 0.25 -1.00D (0.625± 0.375).
In conclusion, the posterior chamber Phakic Intraocular Lenses implantation is considered to be one of the reliable
and stable alternative methods in the correction of high ametropies. The correction of residual ametropy is possible with
LASIK.
