SUMMARY
Aim - to assess the clinical efficasy of the transconjunctival needling of filtering bleb (FB) after primary trabeculectomy with implantation of collagen implant.
Materials and methods
A prospective analysis of 7 patients with encapsulated FB after trabeculectomy with collagen implant and
intraocularpressure (IOP) >21 mm Hg who underwenttransconjunctival needling ofFB was performed.
Results
The mean follow-up period was 24,7 ± 1,2 months. Mean pre-needling IOP, IOP immediately after needling
and IOP at the last follow-up were 30,71 ± 1,9 (26-38) mmHg.; 8,86 ± 2,1 mmHg and 17,14 ± 1,8 mmHg,
respectively. The post-procedure complications included transient hypotony in 2 (28,6%) patients. In 28,6% cases
repeat needling ofFB was performed.
Conclusion
Transconjunctival needling is clinical effective method of recovery of normal functioning of encapsulated FB
that could lead to decrease of IOP up to 44,2% at the 24,7 ±1,2 months follow-up.
