SUMMARY

The article describes a clinical case of treatment of idiopathic choroidal neovascular membrane in a young
patient with the intravitreal VEGF-inhibitor bevacizumab. Young patient, aged 21 years, complained of low vision
and distortion in his left eye. The best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) in the right eye (OD) was 0.9, and in the left
eye (OS) 0.1. Anterior segment of the eyeball in both eyes was normal. During funduscopy in the left eye we had
revealed the choroidal neovascular membrane (CNVM). There was performed an optical coherence tomography
(OCT) and fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA). Macular thickness was 429 microns. There were made three
intravitreal bevacizumab injections at an interval of 4 weeks. In 8 weeks after third intravitreal injection the BCVA
was 0.9 and macular thickness was 178microns.
Our results show the efficacy of bevacizumab in the treatment of idiopathic choroidal neovascular membranes
in young patients.
