SUMMARY
Aim - to study the effectiveness of the designed lacrimal drainage to increase the effectiveness of dacryocystorhinostomy and reduce relapse.
Material and method
The study included 46 patients (46 eyes) with dacryocystitis. Of these, 40 are women, 6 are men. The age of
the patients was between 26-71 years. The main group I included 22 patients in whom the formed dacryostomy
was intubated by the lacrimal drainage we designed. Group II included 24 patients who intubated the formed
dacryostomy with a Crawford bicanacular silicone stent.
Results
In 19 (86%) patients, recovery was noted, in 3 (14%) - improvement, no relapses were detected.
Conclusion
An analysis of the results of external dacryocystorhinostomy using modified lacrimal drainage showed that
the proposed drainage, along with increasing the effectiveness of surgical intervention, plays a huge role in the
prevention of relapses.
