SUMMARY

Purpose - to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment of patients with computer-visual syndrome (CVS)
accompanied by corneal conjunctival xerosis in computer scientists.

Material and methods
The study included 20 patients, which were divided into 2 main groups, which included 8 patients (16 eyes)
in the first group, which Xiloyal was added as replacement therapy and 12 patients in the second group for the
treatment included Cationorm (24 eyes). The age of the examined patients was from 21 to 57 years (an average
35.5 ± 2.7 years). There was no significant difference in age and duration of computer work among patients in both
groups. Patients of both groups were prescribed a course of therapeutic eyelid hygiene 1 month and tear substitutes
dripped into the eye for 2 months. Patients were prescribed per os omega-3 capsules. Treatment results were
evaluated based on functional diagnostic tests (Shirmer, Norn, Lipcof tests).

Results
The effectiveness of treatment according to the functional diagnostic test in patients of group I after a month
was 24.5%, after 6 months - 7.85%; in patients of group II, respectively, 28.4% and 23.6%.

Conclusion
Changes in the surface of the eye in CVS are caused by dysfunction of the meibomian glands and a decrease
in the stability of the tear film. For people who spend 6-8 hours behind the monitor recommended to carry out
therapeutic hygienic procedures and use Cationorm as an osmoprotector. So, patients with CVS in order to prevent
clinical signs should be treated 2-3 times a year.
