Abstract

SUMMARY

The purpose of this research consisted of studying of efficacy of intravitreal injection of bevacizumab (Avastin)
in patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR). Ninethy eigth eyes having PDR were treated with at least
one intravitreal injection of bevacizumab. Follow up period reached one year. Remote follow-up showed, that
intravitreal bevacizumab was safe and effective in treatment of PDR. It can be used as an adjunctive therapy with
laser photocoagulation, because it can induce effective regression of retinal neovascularization and rapid clearance
of vitreous hemorrhage.
